The Government have today confirmed that the elections to Essex County Council in May 2025 will be cancelled, with a consultation beginning in the next few weeks to determine what shape local government will take in Essex.
This will see the District and County councils abolished, being replaced with a number of unitary authorities across Essex, including here in Braintree. Our approach to Local Government Reorganisation will be laser focused on residents - to make your lives better we want to see this change make local government easier for residents to engage with, bring more cost-efficient services, more opportunities for local people and greater accountability for local politicians.
