Dinner with Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP – Member of Parliament for Harlow and Chairman of the Education Select Committee

Dear Members

We would like to extend a very warm invitation to you, your friends and family to join us for our next Association Dinner with Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP – Member of Parliament for Harlow and Chairman of the Education Select Committee.  This will be taking place on Friday 21 October 2022: 7 for 7.30pm at the Braintree Golf Club in Stisted.  Tickets £50.

Robert has been Member of Parliament for Harlow since 2010, comprehensively ending 13 years of a Labour MP, having shocked pundits and the Labour party by only just missing out by 97 votes in 2005. Since then, he has become a much-respected figure across the whole of the Conservative party with a career that saw him become Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor George Osborne in 2014, Minister without Portfolio and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party attending David Cameron’s Cabinet in May 2015 and Minister of State in the Department of Education in 2016. Since 2017, Robert has been Chair of the Education Select Committee.

Above all else, Robert has been Harlow’s MP in Westminster with a reputation for wanting action that has made Senior Ministers take notice and he has been a key element in securing significant investment in the West Essex area, to support growth and unlock opportunity. A tenacious campaigner, Robert and his very active local Conservative Party managed to send the Socialists packing in the 2021 local Harlow Council election and held their administration in a difficult 2022 local election year – against the odds. This has meant long term regeneration plans and investment have been safeguarded to unlock the potential of one of Britain’s best known ‘New Towns R that still suffers from social and economic challenges.

Whatever happens post leadership election, the party will need the wise voices and the experience of MP’s such as Robert, so our Dinner will prove a great opportunity to hear Robert’s views of what the country needs to do to bounce back better post pandemic and defeat the Socialists at the next general election.
